Different ways to stretch the same muscle group
In the most basic terms, stretching a muscle is simply extending a joint through the plane of movement it was designed to travel in. For each muscle group, this can be performed in multiple ways with varying degrees of intensity. Like other workout activities, some stretching exercises are more advanced than others.
A choice of stretching exercise positions
Seated stretching positions
Stretching and flexibility exercises can be performed from a seated position. All major muscle groups can be worked using the stability of a chair, stool or even a step. Full body stretching routines can be carried out in this way.
lying stretching positions
Stretching from a lying position is a great option for some trainers. Some find these stretches to be more relaxing, so perfect for passive stretching techniques.
Standing stretches
Full body stretching routines can be performed from a standing position without any equipment. Often trainers will vary the positions in a stretching routine by mixing in standing, sitting and lying positions, depending on their ability and comfort of individual exercises.
Stretching with equipment
Although it is not necessary for some trainers, the use of minimal stretching aids can enhance progression with flexibility and mobility. Equipment such as a wall, step, rope or even rolled up towel can add variation to a stretching routine.

A 2-day split is a form of exercise planning that uses 2 separate workouts; an “A” workout and a “B” workout. Normally these workouts focus on muscle groups that work in synergy with each other.
